This Year's Model Updates:

The value-priced Work Truck package is now available on both regular and extended cabs. Base models pick up cruise control, a sound system, chrome rear bumper and chrome wheels. An automatic transmission is now standard on LS models, and the V6 is no longer an option in this trim. Other updates include new polished aluminum wheels and 265/70R16 tires with either black sidewalls or raised white lettering. The Quadrasteer option no longer requires the buyer to order trailering equipment. There's also a new tonneau cover, and inside, you'll find underseat storage. Finally, Chevrolet has deleted the Silverado's passenger-side outside door lock.

Pros:
  • Roomy extended-cab models, strong V8 engines, innovative features.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior materials, questionable build quality.

  • Love my Chevy - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This was my 1st bought new truck & I love it. I live in the country so the 4x4 gets used due to snow & mud and it has always worked like a charm. This is my everyday going to work, pulling stock trailer & my going on vacation vechicle all in one & it does it all. Other then routine oil changes Ive never had to put any repair work into it. Only thing that ever happened was the overhead console came loose & I had to tighten the screw that held it. I love this truck & sorry dealerships, but Im not going to be getting another for years probably even decades cause this is the one for me & is built to last. It still looks brand new inside & out. This is my go there go anywhere reliable truck

  • Best I ever bought - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have owned over 8 cars in the last 10 years. I traded in my 99 Ford Ex XLT SUV for this truck and have been very happy with it. The ride is super nice, no bumps or engine nosie, unlike on my Ford. Plus it shifts smooth while towing at high speeds, unlike my Ford. Plus has lots of power to get moving in traffic.

  • The Silverado has everything plus more!! - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

This truck is awesome. My first truck Ive ever had and it has been everything plus more than i have expected. The power that the engine gives off is more than enough to get my everyday tasks done. The storage space inside and in the bed of the truck is phenomenal. The way everything is set up on the dashboard is easy and convenient to use. I dont think you can make a better truck!

  • Love my Z71 - but poor gas mileage - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have long since been a Chevy man. I love my new 04 Silverado Z71 with the 5300 V8 in all respects except for fuel economy. After several years of driving a Ford truck with poor gas mileage, I expected better fuel economy than 13mpg from my brand new Silverado! I get better mileage in my custom 55 Chevrolet with a 4 barrel carb and 3 speed trans - no overdrive!!

This is a great family truck. Great for trips. Very comfortable. This truck has great features.

  • Cheap build quality - 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

I have always loved the Silverado but I have come to believe that they are getting more and more cheaply built. My last two Silverados have had the same airconditioner problem by the second year. My 2004 with 53000 miles just had the rear differential cover replaced because it rusted right through the middle. (And, this truck is kept garaged and underbody washed in the winter. It isnt even my primary vehicle.) The metal used for the differential cover might as well have been aluminum foil. Not even a coat of protective paint. As I look at my 2004 compared to my 2002, I see a lot of cheaply done work and parts in the newer model. Thats why my next truck will be a Toyota
